TED: Ideas worth spreading

By the way, SSER debate club is not only about debating. One of our small hopes is that, after graduating from the debate club, you will also be able to present your ideas passionately and persuasively outside the context of a debate.

A really inspiring and informative resource is TED: Ideas worth spreading. TED is an annual conference of high-profile speakers from a wide range of backgrounds. Each of the participants gives a speech about their issues of concern to the world. The best and most inspiring speeches are available for free in this site. Enough said, go to the site and check it out yourselves – it contains hundreds of speeches on many fascinating topics.

A great example of a good public speaker (amongst many others in this site) is Sir Ken Robinson. I found his argument that schools are undermining creativity very touching. What makes him a good public speaker? How does he start his speech? What elements does he use to make his audience relate with the topic?

Watching good speakers perform couldn’t hurt anyone.

See you this evening,

M.
